Our Staff!
You can't have a great camp without a great
staff, and we've got one! These seasoned veterans will be setting the
tone for this first year program.
Check it out:
Steve Curley serves
as the director of the camp. He brings over 30 years of experience
to our programs as is also the director/owner of the All-Cape Rookie
Camp and the internationally-known Red Auerbach Basketball School.
Steve spent 18 years as a teacher and coach in public education and
an equal amount of time in the sports industry. Steve really cares
about young people and his leadership, expertise and prior experience
have all contributed to the great reputation the camps have earned.
Doug Pasquerella: Doug is the Head Coach at the State University of New York in New Paltz. We think he likes working with our Rookies more than he does his college players. For the most part, Doug runs theshow at the All Cape Rookie camp, assisted by the able bodies below. It is quite a team. Doug’s dynamic enthusiasm comes out as he does the morning stretches for all our camps. He takes his position very seriously and works hard to be age appropriate in his teaching and planning with this age group. Under Doug’s directions, our kids learn basketball and have lots of fun doing it.
Mike Lush: Is the pied piper. Our kids love to have Mike as their teacher since he just boils over with his spirit and sense of humor. Mike is a coach at the Red Auerbach School and was the winning coach in 2006 in our Pro Division. He is a student of the game and is very knowledgeable in getting it across to young people. Mike is currently attending Lesley College where he has been a team leader in scoring.
Rachael Held: The best!! A graduate of The All Cape Camp and now entering her senior year at University of Connecticut. Rachael was so impressive as a camper, that when she was eligible to come and work here, there was no discussion. We wanted Rachael on our team. She is very patient and a solid teacher of the game. She will one day be coaching and we are glad that she is getting some experience with us now.
Danna Laporta: This was another “no discussion”. Danna was never hired!! She just told us when she was through coming here as a camper (5 years), she was coming to work. Period! So last year on opening day, in came Danna. Lucky us. She is our youngest and latest coach/counselor. She has really thrived under Doug’s direction and has done a great job in transitioning from camper to coach. She was an excellent round ball player in school and now brings her camp experience to working with our Rookies.
